Anyone who’s ever played an MMO will know that additional side buttons can make a huge difference as they allow for quicker access to spells, abilities, and attacks.

However, knowing exactly which button does what can be tricky, with even seasoned players having to glance down at the mouse to make sure they’ve got it right here and there. This is one of the reasons the DARKSTAR’s side buttons are arranged around a central grippy thumbpad. It makes life simpler, as it’s easier to differentiate the buttons in question. Additionally, there are small notches between each button, that further help your thumb to delineate one button from the next.

Each of these buttons are completely programmable, of course, meaning you can tailor the DARKSTAR to be the ideal weapon for every game you play. Aside from the cluster on the thumb-side, there’s also two additional buttons built into the left-click, which are perfectly placed to hit at a moment’s notice.

One of the most important things about gaming mice is the shape, as particular shapes can be better or worse for certain grip types. Given that MMOs and MOBAs require constant access to extra mouse buttons and accurate, precise mouse movements.

Happily, all the extra buttons and functionality that we’ve crammed into this mouse hasn’t resulted in a cumbersome, unwieldy lump. In fact, the CORSAIR DARKSTAR weight is only 96g/3.4 oz. This means that, despite being designed for MMOs and MOBAs, it can also hold its own in more twitchy games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Counter-Strike 2.The shape that makes it so comfortable for palm grips works well for FPS games, too.

4. CORSAIR DARKSTAR gesture controls
Another fun addition to the CORSAIR DARKSTAR is the ability to bind commands to gestures you make with the mouse.

With the iCUE software, you can assign keybinds to left, right, forward, and backward tilts in 10-degree increments. For example, you could assign tilting back by 20 degrees to reload, or switch weapon.
